Rc helicopter has become one of the more popular boy toys that hit and hit big. Its popularity is not surprising at all. Imagine fulfilling your dream of flying an aircraft without spending too much. And most of all: without leaving your foot off the ground. Now thats a good plus factor if you simply dont want to risk your life flying with a spinning rotor above your head.
Rc helicopter usually come in either gas or electric powered. Here are the things you should know about the two:
Electric rc Helicopter If you are a novice rc enthusiast, then the most advisable thing to buy is the electric rc helicopter. The reasons are simple. Electric rc helicopter is simpler than other types of rc helicopters especially the gas rcs. With the electric, you dont have to deal with the engine and the gas it will consume. You would not need to have proper knowledge about mechanics just to make it fly. You dont have to spend a lot of time reader the manual just to understand how it works. And if the helicopter fails, you dont have to figure out how to fix it.
If you are thinking that electric rc helicopter would not fly for long then you should change you perspective. Most modern electric rcs are powered by lithium batteries and coupled with brushless motors. This makes it fly much longer. In fact it can out last some of the gas rcs.
And last thing: It is quiet on air thus you cannot disturb others privacy.
Gas rc Helicopter A more experienced rc helicopter pilot prefers gas powered rc helicopters for several reasons. One is, flying gas rc helicopter flies like flying a full-size helicopter since the sound that the engine creates can trigger excitement. Oh! You might think that it is quite absurd. But no! The sound of the engine makes it more exciting to fly. Another reason is that gas rc helicopter is more complicated that keeps its pilot more addicted with it. Why? This is because the pilot is not only limited to flying the helicopter alone. Pilot is involved with how the mechanics of the RC. This gives him more reason to become excited on the RC.
Choosing between an electric RC helicopter and a gas RC helicopter is up to you. Evaluate carefully so that you get most out of your rc flying experience.

Make sure that you read these useful flight booking tips which may help you get a better airfare deal before you book a flight:
– Be as much flexible with your departure and arrival dates as possible. Booking a flight at least 2-3 weeks beforehand usually provides the best airfare rates.
— Fly during the off-peak tourist seasons for your particular destination.
— Booking flight on the holiday is usually less expensive than flying a few days before or after it.
— Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days of week for flights, airfare cost is usually less on these days.
— Do not book flights without checking and comparing airfare costs from several travel service providers.
— Before booking a flight learn the exact amount you are going to pay including all possible hidden charges.
— Direct, non-stop flights are more expensive than flights with multiple connections. In this case you will not save yourself money by saving time.
— Paying airfare with your debit card will halp you save up to 3% comparing with payment done with a cradit card.
— Instead of making two separate reservations for a flight and a hotel, purchase a package which includes both airfare and hotel reserved; it will save you money.
A few words about budget airlines. They have become very popular recently because of their great airfare rates. Among their disadvantages are the use of remotely located airports and quite often - the need to pay extra money for on-board food and drinks. You need to consider these factors when calculating the total transportation cost of your trip. The cost of transfer from a distant airport may cost you more than the difference in airfare rates. You also are going to waste more time while going from a remote airport to your destination or flight connection city. If something goes wrong, you may not have enough time to get to your next departure destination on time, and you will lose your non-refundable budget airline ticket. In order to to be on the safe side timewise, you may need to book a hotel in the flight connection point which will add cost to your travel expenses.

Before we could attempt our high altitude hot air balloon flight Lev David and I had to visit some grown ups that would frighten us…. Well me certainly.
I was very pleased that, the Levster had managed to blag business class seats on BA/Commair and sitting at 31,000 on the way up eating breakfast it seemed that the trip would be very straightforward. Until Lev asked what the outside temperature was and we were told a chilly -42. We also had a tailwind that got us to our destination 10 minutes early, ah um. But, the houses didnt look too far away!!
The flight also gave me a chance to look at the Greytown / Tugela area in great detail.
A slight technical crisis had arisen at East Coast that was unwinding as we flew; the result was that rather than staying over in Pretoria and meeting David Mortimer, what would be right now, Lev had to quickly arrange to get us back the same day.
I went to the hire car office; we then proceeded to wait almost as long as it had taken to fly up from Durban for the car. You know the story, space for five people to help with only two working.
That made us fairly late onto the R21, we had been told it would take an hour to get to the Institute for Aviation medicine in Pretoria and of course there were traffic snarl ups being reported on the radio.
Stress is one of the factors that affect the early onset of Hypoxia, with a problem at East Coast, complete change of arrangements, delayed hire car and journey we thought impossible to do in the available time we managed to arrive on time and feeling not in any way flustered!
I was fairly amazed that Lev just uttering the words, We are here to see Sgt Major Ross, made the gates open, it was effortless. I expected at least 20 minutes of being asked questions about my great grandparents.
As it should be, in the building in which big machines are held there were plenty of echoing corridors and steps. The chambers of which there were two had the appropriate number of levers and dials. Sgt Major Ross was the man operating the controls and unfortunately I cannot remember the names of the two doctors. One a physiologist and the other a straight forward medical man. Both of them seemed just older than my eldest son who is in grade 0.
We were to be taken fairly rapidly up to 12,000 sit there a while making sure all was ok and then at 2000 fpm up to 20,000 where we sat for several minutes without oxygen steadily loosing functions! Yet again sponsors HP came to the fore as the machine monitoring our health was made by them. The doc measured our blood saturation level dropping and would not let it drop below 60%.
Just for Lev heres a chart explaining what range it should be in. I think, although my mind may not have got this right at 20,000, I will have to review the video carefully. Levs saturation which was 100% at base point dropped to 65 and mine 79 although my saturation at the start was 95 I think. By the following chart that makes me indifferent normally. That cant be right
Stage
Altitude in Feet
Saturation (%)
Indifferent 0 to 10000 95 to 90
Compensatory 10000 to 15000 90 to 80
Disturbance 15000 to 20000 80 to 90
Critical 20000 to 23000 70 to 60
My slightly better performance at altitude may be the kms I have done in the gym. Or it could be that Lev had been up until two that morning preparing todays show which then all fell apart and hes sitting at the station making another plan right now! Or could also be the fact that Lev lives at sea level and I live at 4000.
I was very nervous about the chamber, Lev on the other hand took the view that there were grown ups, sort of, with us and they wouldnt let anything happen. I took no solace earlier when one of the Generals in a brief brief suggested that, 30,000 is too high and we might be best to pray! Hum sound medical advice, Im not sure.
The chamber itself was noisy, brightly lit and with a bearded man outside at the big picture window operating levers.
If you suffered from claustrophobia the closing of the door would instantly bring on panic I should think. At one point Lev asked if Sgt Major Ross could hear us and then made some off colour remarks to which the psychologist replied that, He couldnt hear us which was just as well because he is the chap that lets us out.
I personally felt the tingling at my extremities and anxiety. More than likely euphoria but its hard to tell. Lev seemed to get quieter. We obviously both survived but the stupidity of attempting anything at high altitude without the right equipment was underlined.
When they bought us down at 4000 fpm my right ear very quickly became blocked and very painful. I asked them to slow the rate of descent, which Sgt Ross did and then we actually climbed back up to 18,000 again which helped. We then descended at a much slower rate with me clearing my ears best I could.
We left Johannesburg in a rush to get Lev back to the station, I think neither of us really grasping what a day we had had. Only in the following week did we really start talking about our chamber ride!

Introductory lessons offer people the chance to see what being a pilot is about. Many if not all local flight schools offer a discounted flight lesson for this purpose.
On an introductory lesson the student pilot will work with the flight instructor in doing all the checklist prior to take off and then in flight will be able to have hands on control of the airplane and actually fly.
During this time the student pilot will see what make the airplane climb, turn and descend under the watchful eye of an FAA certified flight instructor. At first most people are simply speechless, but then once the flight is over they cant stop talking about how much fun it was.
Introductory flights are important says Gary Bradshaw, president of Pilot Journey.com. be this is not just about having just another hobby, this is about doing something that will change someones life Asked what he means Bradshaw states that learning to fly seems to have almost a spiritual effect on people, in that it increases self-esteem and cause people to have a can do attitude about other things in life.
Most introductory flight lessons that flight schools do can last from 30 minutes to an hour and include a tour of the flight school, discussion about what will take place on the flight and answering all the many questions new pilots have.
There are over 600,000 pilots in America, along with 2,000 flight schools and yet this adventure is still not known to most people. The thought is that one has to be rich to learn to fly. Most pilots actually rent airplanes and fly with others for family vacations, meetings and just plain fun.
Gary Bradshaw is the Evangelist for flight training at Pilot Journey in Nashville. Pilot Journey changes lives. Their website is at http://www.pilotjourney.com

We often here about Think Tanks in the news, but what do they really do? What problems do they solve and what do they think about? Well, as a coordinator for the Online Think Tank you would be surprised at all the topics and the sub-topics are also incredible as well.
Not long ago we were contacted by a lady with a degree in aviation safety and she wondered if she qualified for the Online Think Tank. Indeed, aviation safety is very important and we have the safest skies anywhere in the world now. Aviation Safety has never been better, but that is no reason to stop there, as there can always be improvement.
A Degree in Aviation Sciences, Aerodynamics, Aviation Safety or Other Experience
Many people graduate from high-tech colleges that offer Aviation Degrees and some also attend the famous Embry Riddle Aviation colleges. Aviation Sciences are cool and I am a pilot and study such things as well and I can tell you that those with a knowledge in aviation can bring a lot to the table in a Think Tank.
If you are interested in joining a Think Tank and participating in Aviation Topics and you have a degree in aviation, are a pilot or simply love aircraft, then perhaps you might consider joining a Think Tank that specializes in aviation endeavors? Ask yourself; What sort of work do I do now in the aviation sector.
Types of Aviation Topics Discussed in Think Tanks
- The airport expansion needed to support the A380
- MAVs of the Future, sensors
- Commercial Use of UAVs
- DHS, Military Use of UAVs
- Aerodynamics, efficiencies, new designs
- NASA SATS program
- Privatization of Space and Space Ports
- Anti-Terrorist technologies
- Airports of the Future
- Carbon Nano-Tube Construction in Aviation
- Cargo Aircraft - increasing efficiency
- Runway Safety - debris, incursions
- Rotorcraft - efficiencies, design, aerodynamics
- Hypersonic - propulsion theories
- Aerospace Design
- Transitional Flight Aircraft
- FAA - shortages of workers, systems, etc.
What are your interests in aviation? What other interests do you have? Are there any things you wish to fix in the world? Do you have any original thoughts or concepts on technology, philanthropy, world issues? What are you interests? Adding aviation to the mix can really increase the intellectual strength of a Think Tank, as they are always looking for intelligent people to help change the World.

Flight attendants are mainly appointed to accommodate and ensure the safety of people traveling on a flight. Comfort and entertainment are secondary to safety, and that is why before taking off, flight attendants explain safety procedures in the event of an emergency. Should there be an emergency, flight attendants are trained to step in and give guidance to patients about where to exit the plane, where life jackets or floats are located and how to exit the plane. At least one hour before the flight, attendants are briefed by the pilot on emergency evacuation procedures, coordination of the crew, the length of the flight, expected weather conditions, and special issues having to do with passengers. Flight attendants always make sure that first aid kit and other essential equipment are on board and in working condition. They also make sure there are adequate supplies of food and beverages and any other provided amenities.
The moment the passengers enter the plane, the attendants greet them, check their tickets and guide them to their seat and help them store their luggage. Before the flight takes off, the attendants check seat belts to make sure that they are fastened. Seat backs are in upright position, and all carry-on items are properly stored.
Because airlines work around the clock and year round, flight attendants rotate night shifts, holidays and weekends. They belong to the Association of Flight Attendants and are medically covered for injuries and emotional stress. One advantage to being a flight attendant is that air travel is practically (if not entirely) free and destinations are limitless.

It might be said that modern aviation began on November 21, 1783 in France when two brothers went aloft in a hot air balloon. The true beginning of the era is usually considered to be December 17, 1903 when the Wright Brothers flew the first heavier than air powered plane a few hundred feet off a sand dune at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This first plane could not fly much further because it was almost impossible to control it. In the next decade the wide spread use of ailerons made aircraft manageable and by the outbreak of World War I, aircraft had developed enough for the famous dogfights that took place during that war.
Although aircraft had come a long way during this time, they were not large enough to carry freight or passengers. A type of lighter than air craft called a dirigible was considered more practical for that purpose, and was seen as the future of aviation. By the mid 1930s, the Douglas DC-3 was introduced and became the first practical airliner. At the end of the same decade, the Hindenburg Disaster ended the age of the dirigible.
Once again, it was a war that boosted the aviation age. World War II was a spur to a tremendous technological spurt in aviation. By the end of the war, we had large bombers and jet aircraft as well as rocket power. In the years after the war commercial airliners expanded rapidly connecting the entire world. The introduction of the Space Shuttle opened the idea of space as aviations next frontier.
Another area in which aviation has expanded recently is the area of personal aircraft. Pilot training has become available in small airports that provide the aviation supplies needed to service small personal aircraft. In addition to pilot training, the small airports sell pilot supplies and aircraft supplies such as the new models of David Clark headsets that provide communication while providing ear protection. It is possible to have your own plane kept in hangers in these small airports, or even to rent planes there.
In the coming years, aviation is expanding in two different directions. The first push is out into space, but the second area of expansion is the area of personal aircraft. In the years to come, it is possible that the day will arrive when a private aircraft is about as common as a privately owned motor vehicle and the globe will shrink a little more as more and more people take to the air.
Natalie Aranda writes about sports and recreation. Pilot training has become available in small airports that provide the aviation supplies needed to service small personal aircraft. In addition to pilot training, the small airports sell

In simple, airfare is the fare charged by airline from the travelers. The airlines offer better prices to those who book their seats in advance. The airline has to make proper estimation of number of people and luggage on a flight. The fares may differ from place to place.
Here are the two main ways through which you will get a discounted airfare. The first one is to stay in touch with the airlines. Sometimes airlines offer discounted airfares on particular routes.
You can also find airline wholesalers and consolidators offering great discounts online. They purchase airline tickets in large quantities and then pass them to consumers. But you have to find whether the ticket for your route is available or not. Airlines offer discounts to those people who make advance booking or flying off-peak hours.
The different types of airfares are: apex fares, discount fares, excursion fares, flexible fares, joint fares and through fares. Apex fares are also known as advance purchase fares and are lower than the normal fares. Discount airfare are low priced fares that are offered by airlines for a limited period of time. Excursion fares also contain less prices. Flexible fares are also known as unrestricted or full fares. The price of such fares is very high. You can refund or alter the ticket on the same day of travel. Joint fares offer price breaks to passengers using more than one airline to get somewhere.
There are certain important things to be considered while making your reservation. Make your selection from available sources and choose the company offering lowest fare rate. You can also collect important information through Internet.
Author presents a website on airfares. This website provides information about meaning of airfares, types of airfares and the airlines advantages on rate setting. You can visit his site to get more airfare guide
